Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who collects the online donations?
A. Our online donations are collected using the United Methodist Electronic Funds Transfer program, administered by Vanco Services, LLC, a PCI (Payment Card Industry) Level 1 Compliant Service Provider specializing in electronic payment solutions.

Q. Which payment methods are accepted?
A. Vanco Services accepts direct bank transfers from your checking or savings accounts and all major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.

Q. How do I enroll in online giving?
A. Simply click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.  On the bottom-right side of that page, click 'Create Profile' to set up your account.  You will use your email address as your username, then enter your name, address, and contact information.  Finally, create a password to protect your account.

Q. How is my money used? 
A. There are currently three options for contributions.  Occasionally, we add new funds to collect money for particular projects or purposes.
  • Donation.   Contributions to the 'Donation' fund are used for our operating expenses including staff, building maintenance & administration, and our various programs and missions like The Table, the homeless ministry, and the children's ministry. 
  • Building Fund.  Contributions to the 'Building Fund' are applied directly to the mortgage for our building at 2700 Jane Street.  
  • Mexico Trip.  This fund is pooled for the entire missionary team traveling to represent Hot Metal and serve our friends in Chiapas, Mexico.  The money is evenly divided among all team members to offset the cost of the trip.  

Q. How do I make a one-time payment?
A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
  • Log in using your username and password (see how to enroll above).  
  • Click 'Add Transaction.'  
  • Type the amount of your contribution next to the appropriate fund.  
  • Next to 'Donation Frequency' select 'One Time' using the pull-down menu  
  • Choose the date of your payment either by typing it next to 'Donation Start Date' or by clicking on the calendar icon.  
  • Select which account the payment will come from using the pull-down menu or click 'New Account' to register a checking, savings, or credit account.  
  • Click 'Process' to finalize your payment.  

Q. How do I set up recurring payments?
A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
  • Log in using your username and password (see how to enroll above).  
  • Click 'Add Transaction.'  
  • Type the amount of your contribution next to the appropriate fund.  
  • Next to 'Donation Frequency' select 'Weekly' or 'Monthly' using the pull-down menu  
  • Choose the date of your first payment either by typing it next to 'Donation Start Date' or by clicking on the calendar icon.  
  • Select which account the payment will come from using the pull-down menu or click 'New Account' to register a checking, savings, debit, or credit account.  
  • Click 'Process' to finalize your payment schedule. 

    Q. How do I update my personal information? 
    A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
    • Log in using your username and password (see above). 
    • Click the 'Profile' tab.
    • Enter the new information.
    • Click 'Update' button.
    • (Note: Clicking 'Cancel Profile' instead will delete your profile and cancel all scheduled payments.) 

    Q. How do I update my bank or credit account information? 
    A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
    • Log in using your username and password (see above). 
    • Click the 'Edit Account' button.
    • Click 'Edit.'  
    • Enter the new information
    • Click 'Save.'

    Q. How do I change my password? 
    A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
    • Log in using your username and password (see above). 
    • Click the 'Profile' tab.
    • On the right side of the page, enter the old password.  Then enter the new password and confirm. 
    • Click 'Change' button.

    Q. How do I cancel a scheduled payment? 
    A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
    • Under 'My Scheduled Donations' click 'Delete' to cancel the payment.

    Q. What if I need to postpone a scheduled payment or increase or decrease the amount? 
    A. Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
    • Under 'My Scheduled Donations' click 'Edit.'
    • Enter the new settings and click 'Continue.' 
    • Choose the payment account and click 'Save.' 

    Q. Can I see the history of my donations?
    A. Yes.  Click the 'Donate Now' button above to visit our secure donation webpage.
    • To create a report, select the desired range of dates under 'My Donation History' and use the pull-down menu to indicate the fund for which you wish to view contributions. 
    • Click 'Search' to view your report.    

    Q. Will I receive receipts for online donations for tax purposes?
    A. Yes, each time you make a contribution you will receive an email receipt. This receipt can be used for reporting purposes.  Also, in January the Hot Metal Bridge Faith Community will mail a letter to you confirming your total contributions for the previous year.
